Amongst the many misconceptions about Islam is one concerning the status of daughters in Islam. There are a number of reasons for these misconceptions:

1. False and hostile propaganda from the enemies of Islam.
2. Ignorance concerning this issue on the part of some Muslims.
3. Negligence and carelessness on the part of some Muslims concerning Islamic teachings when dealing with daughters.

The author has endeavored to explain the status of a daughter in the light of the Quran and authentic Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ
