No one knows when he/she will die. The appointed term of the Hour is hidden from us. A person drives his car and may not return home. Only the news of his death may reach a relative or a friend. Sudden death is something real and its cases are on the rise. The question is what have we prepared for the Day of Recompense? We may be committing sins everyday, but are we seeking forgiveness? And if we do, are we fulfilling the conditions of Tawbah (seeking Allaah’s forgiveness)?
The day that passes is considered gone, and the day to come we may not live to see. The present day is the one we can invest in for the Hereafter. If we live our days in accordance with Allaah’s Book and the Prophet’s Sunnah as understood and applied by the righteous predecessors then we hope that Allaah will save us from the torment of the grave and from the horrors of the Day of Recompense. If we spend our days following the astray ways in belief and Ibaadaat (acts of worship), then we can only blame ourselves. May Allaah, the Most Beneficent and the Most Merciful keeps us on the Path of As-Salaf -us-Saalih and make us die on it.
