Un commentaire de Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan sur al-Aqidah al-Tahawiyyah, l'ouvrage le plus largement acclamé et accepté sur le credo d'Ahlus Sunnah wal-Jama'ah.

Devant vous se trouve la traduction anglaise de Sharh al-'Aqidah al-Tahawiyah par Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan. Ceci est une explication du célèbre traité sur la croyance islamique intitulé al-'Aqidah al-Tahawiyah (Le Credo de l'Imam al-Tahawi). L'auteur de ce traité est l'Imam Abu Ja'far al-Tahawi (239-321 AH), l'une des principales autorités sur le madhab Hanafī. La période dans laquelle l'imam al-Tahawi a vécu était le zénith de la diffusion des sciences islamiques et il n'était qu'un des géants que cette ère a produits. Pour illustrer cela : ses professeurs comprenaient l'Imām Isma'il ibn Yahya al-Muzani (un étudiant majeur de l'Imām al-Shāfi'ī), ceux dont il a recueilli les hadiths comprenaient l'Imām al-Nasai (auteur de 'Sunan al-Nasai', un du 'Sahih Sittah') et ses étudiants comprenaient le grand muhaddith Imām al-Tabarani.

Le but de son traité était d'énoncer le credo des premiers savants du madhab Hanafī et d'indiquer sa corrélation avec les vues d'Ahl al-Sunnah wa'l-Jamā'ah en général. Comme le déclare Cheikh al-Fawzan dans son explication : « Cela implique une réfutation contre ceux qui s'associent à l'école hanafite du fiqh à l'époque moderne ou récente : ils s'associent à l'école hanafite mais contredisent la croyance de l'Imam Abū Hanifah ; ils ne font plutôt que suivre ses vues dans la jurisprudence. Ils adoptent le credo de ceux qui professent le kalām (dialectique théologique) et des logiciens.
