Author Profile
Professor Adnan Zarzour gained his undergraduate degree from the University of Damascus faculty of Shari'ah in 1960, and his Masters and PhD from Dar al-'Ulum, Cairo University.
Over a long and productive career, he has taught at numerous universities throughout the Arab world. He i currently a visiting professor at Qatar University.
His scholarly work covers a wide spectrum of fields, including: Quranic and Hadith studies, Islamic theology, intellectual history, scholarly biography and studies in contemporary political philosophy, covering the topics of human rights, secularism and nationalism.
ولد في دمشق في 1939 تلقى تعليمه في مراحل التعليم الابتدائي والإعدادي والثانوي في مدارس الجمعية الغراء بدمشق التي كانت تعنى بالعلوم العربية والشرعية درس الشريعة والحقوق، وتخرج في الشريعة من جامعة دمشق في حزيران "يونيو" 1960م ، وكان أول خريج يحصل في كلية الشريعة على درجة الليسانس بتقدير جيد جداً مع مرتبة الشرف الثانية ،
ولم يتابع الدراسة في كلية الحقوق بعد أن اجتاز بعض مقررات السنة الرابعة . عمل مدرساً في المدارس الإعدادية والثانوية في بعض المحافظات السورية عين معيداً في كلية
