This short treatise was originally a lecture delivered by the author (to a group of Muslims) in Mansura, Egypt. He was encouraged by a number of Islamic publishers to present the topic a readable form so that its benefit would reach a wider audience. Therefore the author revised the lecture, verified all the Hadith (quoted therein) and then re-wrote and re-arranged it and the praise and thanks belong to Allah (for enabling him to do this).
The author set tout this treatise, with Allah’s success, gathering material discussing the Fiqh (understanding), etiquette, forms of supplication, virtues, benefits, preferred times and places for seeking forgiveness. Also the author has mentioned the obstacles which prevent forgiveness (from being accepted).
He has begun this treatise by mentioning some of the fruits of obedience to Allah and the evil effects of sins, this in order to encourage people to seek forgiveness. The author, in this treatise, has followed his general style; which is the adherence to presenting authentic knowledge stemming from, the book of Allah and the established Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah.
